The books

My thank you, and love letter to my inspiration – the people who let me into their world. All my books are designed, edited and of course, photographed myself. My books are projects within themselves – the printed book assures the viewer can have a tangible presentation of a dedicated journey.

By the River

Heart wrenching, poignant and pervading portraits of imprisoned Vietnamese sex workers who have been so broken by their experiences that many are unable to go to freedom, even when given the chance.

By the River is a complex book with uncomfortable imagery and controversial subject matter but the design, layout and use of colour is striking. The heightened colour clashing with black-and-white is jarring but it works. It reflects the environment it portrays and makes you stop and think.

Signed, limited edition photography book of #11. Eleven being the same number of women rescued from the brothel. Editions, 1-3 come covered in a beautiful Cambodian made one hundred-percent pure silk, hand-woven scarf. Printed on premium Superfine Eggshell uncoated stock.

Cruising

Heart wrenching, poignant and pervading portraits of imprisoned Vietnamese sex workers who have been so broken by their experiences that many are unable to go to freedom, even when given the chance.

By using an inside-out approach to record the lives of thirteen working girls from Kings Cross, Cruising provides a very immediate and visceral experience of their everyday realities, shocking truths and relentless dreaming.

The photo journalistic approach reveals a confronting physicality that comes with intimacy at a price, while the Kings Cross’ streetscapes are taken through dirty car windows and isolates the “objectified” in what seems a dangerously surreal world.

Death Rite

Located on the banks of the Bagmati River in Kathmandu, Nepal is the Pashupatinath temple – considered one of the sacred temples of Hindu faith. Family, friends and the public gather to mourn the dead, witnessing the burning of the deceased on the pyres. With many maintaining traditional practices; from the shaving of male heads, ritualistic blessings and rinsing, to bringing the dying to the volunteer run hospital located alongside the ghats for what Hindu’s consider to be their last rite of passage.
